This past August (2017) we moved across the country from Louisiana to Washington state. On the way up we decided to turn a 35 hour trip into a 2 week long road trip to different national parks. Our first park was Great Sand Dunes National Park.
I wish you could see the massive size of these dunes! The photos just don’t do them justice.
It took many tears and about 2 and a half hours, but we made it to the top! Not being used to a higher elevation definitely made this hike a bit difficult, not to mention sand makes you slide backwards for every single step. 😉
The mountains make the dunes feel even more surreal.

However, one of my favorite parts was our campsite. We had a full view of the dunes and the mountains. It was perfect!

I am so glad we had the chance to stop by, even if for just a day. Totally worth it!
Much love,
Chelsea
