20 Things I Learned in My 20s

I have just turned 30 years old. As I move into a new decade, reflection on the past one comes swiftly. Personally, I have always loved reflection, summarizing, and closing chapters. Writing an essay did cross my mind, but I feel that a new format for the changing of the decade would be more fun. My 20s were full of many things, including lessons and growth. I am not the same person I was when I turned 20 – thank goodness! – and these lessons/tips are definitely the reasons for that change.

Simple Things I Learned in My 20s

  1. Go for a walk and drink your water – clear your head and relax.
  2. Eat your protein and fun fruits – Cotton Candy Grapes are amazing!
  3. Your job can just be a job.  It doesn’t have to be a passion.
  4. Take pictures – of friends, flowers, home
  5. You can do more than you think – try the longer hike, the bigger project.
  6. Look up – sunsets, flowers, clouds, they are never the same but always beautiful.
  7. Try new things – learn to cook something, try a 5K, etc.
  8. Get a hobby – they aren’t just for kids!
  9. Change is good and necessary
  10. Friends can be for seasons, and that is okay.
  11. Friends who span life stages are gems to be treasured always.
  12. Wear what you want – literally no one cares as much as you.
  13. Start a daily stretch – workout routine
  14. Get your skincare routine in order
  15. Take the “risk” – it’s scary, but not always risky!
  16. Thankfulness in everything leads to a joyful attitude
  17. Stop being shy – you’re only being self conscious and literally no one cares.
  18. The Lord is Sovereign
  19. When you judge others, you are incredibly unhappy – always.
  20. People are often doing the best they can.
  21. If your life decisions are God-glorifying, life is joyful.

The past ten years have been so full. I have learned so much and did more than I could have dreamed. Here’s to the next decade and the new lessons and adventures they hold.

Much Love,

Chelsea
