Saguaro National Park

Check out 100 year old cacti with us in Saguaro National Park!

So many people classify the desert as “ugly”. Personally, I have always loved the plants, animals, and sky-scapes that only the desert can provide. Visiting Saguaro National Park was a bucket list item due to the old cacti growth and the unusual floral blooms.

Our group visited in April to catch some cooler temps, blooming foliage, and baby animals.

The trip started at the visitor center which looks like something out of a sci-fi film.

We were able to grab a map, park stamps, and some cute stickers before venturing off into the park.

We decided not to do any lengthy trails due to a varying range of skill level, but we stopped often along the main drive to look at the plants and take pictures of the bizarre scenery.

There were so many Saguaro cacti and we loved seeing them all. They were quite bigger than we expected and we ere in awe of their size.

Prickly pear were also all around. They had such pretty flowers during this time of year.

The juxtaposition of the thorns and the flowers was beautiful.

We all stopped at a short trail to get a closer look. Sometimes little owls will be sleeping in the holes of the Saguaro.

It felt surreal to walk through a cactus forest, especially with the mountains in the background.

We had such a great time and would love to come back for a longer period. This national park is definitely one of the best we have visited.
